NADP Urges Limit on Texas Dental Board’s Rulemaking Keep Reading

TSBDE Withdraws 108.74 and 108.70, Re-Proposes Revised 108.74

Texas State Board of Dental Examiners today chose to withdraw proposed Rules §108.70 and §108.74 from consideration.

TCDSO applauds the board for making the correct decision to protect the best interests of Texas dental patients.  We wish to thank the hundreds of dentists, dental staff professionals, patients, and various business and consumer interest groups that have expressed their concern over the proposed rules to the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.

However, TCDSO is concerned that the board chose to re-propose a modified version of Rule 108.74 without, once again, making any effort to engage in a collaborative discussion with the dental community prior to taking that action. While it is not yet clear how the particular provisions in this rulemaking would affect DSOs, TCDSO remains committed to its efforts to work with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners to ensure that Texas dentists have the ability to contract with DSOs, which have for decades helped Texas dental practices provide quality care at a reduced price.
